Budget: Getting Results for Ward Anirniq
I am proud to bring forward the voices of Ward Anirniq residents and get results for our ward. Here is a highlight of some ward-specific projects. This list does not include City-wide projects that have a scope of work within Ward Anirniq (i.e. sidewalk/road improvements, renewal work).
Here are a few of the items I advocated for and are funded in this budget.
LRT - Northwest Metro-Line: The City will be pursuing the necessary land acquisitions from Blatchford to Castle Downs to make progress on the NW LRT and position this project well for funding from other orders of government
Cumberland Fire Station: Funding was approved to move forward with planning, design, and construction of a new fire station to service this neighbourhood and surrounding areas
Castle Downs YMCA: The City will support the YMCA through an annual operating grant so they can continue to provide quality community services and recreation in Caste Downs
Castle Downs District Park Plan: Adding artificial turf to the park plan to support year-round sport (Eg; North Edmonton Minor Football Association)
137 Ave Off-Ramps: For constructing off-ramps at 137 Ave/Anthony Henday Drive to support economic development in the surrounding industrial area
Coronation Park Sports & Recreation Centre: Construction is underway and will support recreation and wellness
Peter Hemingway Fitness & Leisure Centre: Funding was allocated to complete the rehabilitation project including phase 2, starting in 2023
Yellowhead Freeway Conversion Program: The section in the ward from St.Albert Trail - 97 Street will be finalizing designs and starting construction this budget cycle
