The Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion is progressing! I’d like to share some updates on the two sections of the project that are located in Ward Anirniq.
Completion of the whole freeway expected by 2027 - making Yellowhead Trail free flowing the entire length within Edmonton. This is essential to move goods and services safely and efficiently across Edmonton.
CHANGES:156 Street to St. Albert Trail
Construction is expected to continue until late 2023 and resume in the spring of 2024
By the end of 2023, Yellowhead Trail will be opened to 3 lanes in both directions between 156 Street and St. Albert Trail
When you’re driving WESTBOUNDyou MUST use one of the Service Road access points located at 143 Street or by 149 Street in order to exit at the following:
143 Street
149 Street
151 Street
156 Street
North Side Businesses
NOTE: In order to exit onto 149 Street, you must use the access point at 143 Street
When you’re driving EASTBOUNDyou MUST use the Service Road access point located before 149 street in order to exit at the following:
149 Street
142 Street

Changes: St. Albert Trail to 97 Street
127 STREET: Major traffic detours in effect as of November 25, 2023 at the 127 Street intersection to make way for a new overpass!
Newly constructed detour in the North/South direction
Left turns are NOT allowed in any direction
Right turns ARE allowed in all directions
Two lanes of through traffic in all directions will still be maintained.
