Seniors are invaluable members of our community who bringing a wealth of experience and wisdom. That's why outreach with seniors is important to me and I look forward to more visits!

  • Assisted Waste Collection: 

  • NEW Assisted Snow Clearing Pilot Program: 

    • The program will start this 2024/2025 winter season to assist those with mobility challenges to have their sidewalks cleared at no additional charge for this service. More information to come!

  • Discounted Senior Transit Fares: 

    • Available to those who are 65+. Reduced rates are available on tickets, monthly passes and annual passes. Senior monthly passes and tickets can be purchased at participating retail sales outlets.

    • Arc is the Edmonton region’s electronic fare payment system. Check out the Arc Information Guide for Seniors.

  • Recreation for Seniors:

  • Discounted Pet Licence for Seniors: 

    • Seniors and those on income support may qualify for a half-price licence for one spayed or neutered pet per residence.

  • Help Around the Home: 

    • This program helps seniors to find low-cost, pre-screened workers to help seniors with a variety of jobs around the home.

  • Other: 

    • Services for Seniors Booklet

    • Age Friendly Edmonton is a co-led initiative between the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council and partners on local action for seniors. Sign up for their e-newsletter to stay up to date. 

    • The City has provided grants and funding for a number of housing projects with the goal of maintaining or enhancing affordable housing. This included supporting Matheson Seniors Residence (located in Woodcroft) with rehabilitating 300 studio and one-bedroom affordable housing units for low income seniors.

    • In 2022, I made a formal inquiry into City of Edmonton funding and support for seniors. Click here to read the information that came back. I also made a motion that passed for City Administration to look into adding a Seniors Advisory Committee as the civic committees bring important perspectives, feedback and suggestions to City Council. This work is currently under review.
