Lauderdale Flood Mitigation Project

There’s a new project in Ward Anirniq slated for construction in 2023 - The Lauderdale Flood Mitigation Project.

This project is part of EPCOR’s plan to reduce the risk of flooding in Edmonton neighbourhoods through construction of dry ponds, including one within the Grand Trunk Off-Leash Dog Park.

So what exactly is a dry pond? “Dry ponds are drainage facilities which are designed to stay dry the vast majority of the time and only begin to collect water in large rain events when the stormwater system cannot handle the water volumes.” - EPCOR’s Project Notice

EPCOR has committed to keeping part of the dog park open for use during construction as the park is used by so many Edmontonians and their furry friends!

EPCOR is starting Community Engagement on this project and they’ll be at the dog park at the following times:

  • July 23rd 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

  • July 24th 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  • August 9th 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  • August 10th 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
